The success of Jersey Boys State depends on civic donations. Currently, the bulk of Boys State operating funds are derived from American Legion posts and
other civic organizations which sponsor students attending the program. In addition to financial contributions, each year the program receives generous
donations of thousands of hours of volunteer time. We also receive donations and discounts on various products and in-kind services. Without these
contributions, there would be no Jersey Boys State.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
There are many ways in which you can support Boys State:
There are many ways in which you can support Boys State:
Sponsorship of Boys State Citizens:
Boys State currently derives its operating budget from New Jersey American Legion posts and other civic organizations which "sponsor" students to attend the
program at a tuition cost of $210 per statesman. You have the opportunity to provide young citizens with a "Week to Shape the Future" by sponsoring them to
attend the next session of Jersey Boys State.
Donate Printing and Publishing Services or Sponsor a Boys State Publication:
Each year, the program publishes educational materials, schedules and yearbooks. In addition, the students produce their own daily newspaper, the Jersey
Statesman. Publishing and printing costs to produce these vital materials represent one of the largest expenditures of funds by the program. Supporters
may sponsor a publication or donate in-kind printing and publishing services.
Donate Technology Supplies and Services:
As part of the Jersey Boys State continuous quality improvement effort, we have integrated and will further integrate technology into the
administration and implementation of our program. The program relies heavily on computers, technology services, and
telecommunications equipment and services to efficiently administer the heavy workload required to teach and counsel
Boys State citizens. In addition, we maintain our own web site at www.boysstate.com. Among other things, we utilize our web site to post program updates and election
results to keep friends, family, alumni and supporters actively engaged in the program. We seek to further integrate
and harness technology throughout the Boys State program to facilitate and enhance the learning process. Through
generous donations in the past three years, our Technology sub-committee has been able to place 2 computers in all 16
cities and one shared printer for the delegates to create campaign materials and draft resolutions for circulation.
Delegates are able to use the technology to create manuals for each city as well as a city website. Currently our
vision is set on obtaining digital cameras and laptop computers which would significantly enhance the current
experience, enabling our statesmen to fully harness their creative potential.
Donation of General Supplies and Materials:
Housing and educating over 850 young men for our week-long program is no small task. We incur substantial expenses ranging from basic meals and housing to
office supplies to our Boys State shirts. You can help with sponsorship or in-kind donations of much needed educational and office equipment, office
supplies, and other materials.
Endowment of Scholarships or our Distinguished Speaker Series:
We currently have limited funds for scholarships and no funds for speaker honorarium. With a substantial contribution, you could endow a scholarship for the
benefit of Boys State participants or endow a lecture in our Distinguished Speaker Series.
Contribute directly to the Foundation:
We hope to build an endowment to ensure the future quality of the Boys State program.
